FAQ

Questions that come up.

Pre-emptive answers to what SPs and inbound shippers ask in BD conversations.

Is FreightDesk a broker?
No. FreightDesk does not hold a broker license, does not factor receivables, and does not sit in the financial transaction between an SP, its customers, and its carriers. The platform is the tool; the relationships and the billing stay between the SP and the carrier. SPs operating on FreightDesk maintain their own carrier contracts and their own customer relationships.
Can I bring my own carrier contracts to FreightDesk?
Yes. Bring your own carrier and aggregator contracts into FreightDesk and rate, book, BOL, track, and audit against your contracted rates on the same platform. The carriers stay yours; the workflow lives in one place. Shippers with established carrier relationships keep them — FreightDesk doesn't re-broker the freight or sit between you and your carriers.
Will FreightDesk go after my customers?
No. FreightDesk's commercial focus is service providers. The product is built for SPs to operate freight desks for their customers; it is not a direct-to-shipper platform. Shippers who reach out to FreightDesk are referred to existing service-provider customers, not pursued as direct customers. Long-term, FreightDesk also serves shippers with internal freight-desk teams via a hosted-contract model — those are sophisticated, large shippers running their own operations, not the SPs' customer base. That motion is not active in this initial rollout.
Does FreightDesk take a cut of my carrier rates?
No. The fee structure is a platform subscription plus a per-shipment transaction fee. FreightDesk does not mark up carrier rates and does not share in accessorial spend.
What carriers does FreightDesk integrate with?
Production integrations include R+L Carriers, TForce Freight, Estes Express Lines, Worldwide Express, and Daylight Transport. Additional LTL carriers and FTL load-board integrations are rolling out monthly. If a specific carrier is critical to your operation, ask us — we can scope it.
Do I need an in-house freight team to use FreightDesk?
No. If you have a freight team, your team operates the platform directly. If you don't, FreightDesk can connect you with a service-provider partner who runs the freight desk on your behalf — same platform either way. The contact form's "Talk to a Partner" path handles that referral.
How long does implementation take?
Typical pilot is 60–90 days from kickoff to first lane or first customer live on the platform. The pace depends on the number of carriers, complexity of pricing rules, and how much customer or operational data needs to migrate from existing systems.
What does it cost?
Subscription plus per-shipment, scaled to volume. List pricing is not published because the right answer depends on the shape of the operation — number of carriers, mode mix, shipment volume. Contact the team for a concrete quote.
How is this different from a TMS?
TMSes are typically scoped and priced for enterprise procurement — six- to seven-figure year-one cost, nine-month implementations, custom carrier integrations. FreightDesk is the freight-desk workflow at a fraction of that — multi-carrier rating, booking, BOL, tracking, and audit live in production today, with a pilot in 60–90 days. If you've outgrown manual carrier portals and spreadsheets but the TMS RFP is too big a bite, this is the gap FreightDesk fills.
What if a shipper is already asking us about FreightDesk?
Shippers can absolutely use FreightDesk through your operation — that's the entire model. The SP holds the customer relationship, runs the freight desk on FreightDesk, and the shipper benefits from the platform's automation through the SP. Shippers don't need an account on FreightDesk separately; they interact with the SP.
Is FreightDesk a startup? Can you trust it with your freight operation?
FreightDesk is an early-stage company with live production customers, named integrations to major carriers, and a team with decades of operating experience in 3PL operations, LTL sales, and logistics technology. Reference calls with existing customers are available on request.
